Our Approach

Sea Change Teacher Training, Auroville, 2022

We believe that change can only happen when we all work together. We do not have the personpower to widely distribute our educational programmes, but you have. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we are able to offer partnering organisations our student textbooks, teacher kits and lesson resources free of charge.

Through our teacher training programmes, we not only equip your educators with the tools they need to teach the lesson plans, but also motivate and inspire them to become agents of change in their classrooms. We highly value building collaborations, to continually refine and enhance our programmes through ongoing dialogue and feedback.

Our dream is to inspire children all over the
world to become WasteLess Superheroes –
with your help we can achieve our vision.

Our Collaboration with the Tamil Nadu Government

One of our biggest collaborations till date was a partnership with the state government of Tamil Nadu in 2018. A legislation banning one-time use and throwaway plastics in Tamil Nadu, which became effective in January 2019, was supported by teaching children about how to reduce pollution and manage waste sustainably.

In 2018, we partnered with 320 Tamil Nadu Government Schools, providing specialized training to one dedicated teacher from each institution in selected activities from our educational programs Garbology and kNOw PLASTICS.

This successful partnership sparked enthusiasm among thousands of students. Consequently, the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) recognized the value of our educational programmes, integrating their most relevant and impactful parts into the official State Textbooks for classes IV and VI to IX in 2019.

The materials include different interactive and educational classroom activities as well as scientific knowledge, which are complementary with subjects like Science, English and Mathematics.

Since their integration, the content within these textbooks has reached over 3 million children across Tamil Nadu. During our interactions with students from these government schools, many proudly showcased their newfound understanding of plastic resin codes, waste and conscious consumption, eagerly sharing their textbook content.
